Peace Poetry Awards Ceremony

Yeah, I told you guys that I got shortlisted out of 400 entries, right?

So we went to the Awards Ceremony with my par4ents and Rabiah,my little sister. We sat in the car for ages since there was so much traffic, and then finally got there. We got a bit lost, but we reached the destination safely.
It looked really posh,so I was a bit self-conscious,but I think everyone was. I realised that we were pretty much the only brown family there.:L But then we saw an Arab family and a black family so it was all good.

I'm aware that a lot of the families were racist, and all of them looked at us weird when we got the seats next to the Lord Mayoress.

They opened the awards ceremony with Tribal dancing which was amazing.Like,it took my breath away.About 7 girls aged 9-17 dancing and 2 older women danced, and it just looked awesome.2 guys did the tribal drums and my dad was itching to get up and have a go.Hahaha.
They wanted us to clap along so we did,but a few racist people didn't.:\ They just sat there.D:

One of the girls looked like Chelsea from Eastenders with Rihanna's haircut! Haha. She was really pretty.

After that,Rommi Smith(The judge)gave a speech which was inspiring and she said a great quote by Oscar Wilde:

"History is not to be repeated, but to be rewritten."

It made me wonder, that why the hell were there so many racist families there when it was a Peace Poetry Awards Ceremony?!

The first category was Primary, and they had some sweet quotes from the poems. One of them was:
"When my little brother goes to my grandparents house,I get peace."
LOL.

By the time it was on the Young Adults category,I weas convinced I wasn't gonna win.I don't remember who came third, but second was super tall black guy with awesome fashion sense.Hahah.His family behind us were commenting on how tall and healthy he looked.::') His poem was amazingly good.

Rommi then went on to say"The winner's poem made me learn something and that's what poems should do.Be memorable and paint pictures in your head. And that's what this poem does."

And my mind was going;"Yeah,not mine.Go Rabiah,it's you.Go Ellie.Go both of you!"
And Rommi goes:
"The winner is...Jim Zwerg-The Freedom Riders!"
=O=O=O=O

"...By Mariam A****"
(Don't want paedophiles knowing my name.;))

And people applauded whilst my mouth was open.Hahaha. I read out the poem, but I don't think people could hear me that well.Rommi said her favourite bit was when I said "Simple smiles in gardens of frowns."

I'm glad she liked it then.(:

MLIA

"Today, I was at school wearing my harry potter t-shirt. Then these girls who love twilight and wore the new moon t-shirt came up to me and gave me a dirty look. When they walked away, one of them stopped short came up to me and lifted up her bangs showing a Harry Potter scar underneath. She gave me a high five and said," Im trying to take twilight down undercover." Then she went back to her "friends". This is for you undercover Harry Potter fan. This is for you. MLIA "

Poo Moon

Yeah, went to go see New Moon but not with my friends but my sisters.
We went at a really early time of 11:45. I really wanted to yell some Harry Potter references at the screen, vbut there was a lot of older people in the audience so I figured I wouildn't spoil it for them.

I prefered it to Twilight, but Harry Potter is still Number 1.

Kristen Stewart is still a horrible actress. The wolves were the best.
Chaske,Alex,Kiowa,Taylor,Tyson,and Bronson
are admittedly, not what I imagined, but they did a great job.

Kiowa and Chaske especially.;)  Go Embry and Sam!

I am going to go visit Fozia on saturday.I haven't seen her since...year 6.=O Since she went to boarding school,we'll have so much to catch up on! I can't wait.(:

I've been accepted in a Poetry competition for my poem on Jim Zwerg! Shortlisted out of 400 entries and only 10 from our school got in! I doubt I have any chance of winning but this is still cool.Me and Ellie are the ones from Year 9.Her poem is amazing.Undoubtly, she'll probably win something.(:
"To limit a spectrum-that allows such colours

to bounce off the walls, find the light, gind companions and talents.
To see those colours in skins, and the hatred in some eyes.
To live where prejudiced minds massacre rights,
and ugly heads of racism grin in twisted, magnificent glory."
[just the first verse since I'm too lazy to write it all out.]

Music: Anything by Taylor Swift. She's amazing.
